Description

Salenegg Castle, the Oldest Vineyard in Europe

Since 1068, wine has been cultivated at Salenegg Castle, and since 1654, Salenegg Castle has been owned by the Gugelberg von Moos family. From generation to generation, knowledge and experience have been passed on with courage and foresight, along with a deep respect for nature. All products from Salenegg Castle - the wine, the spirits, the gourmet vinegar, and the cold-pressed oil - are produced with love, diligence, and skill in a nature-friendly manner.

Helene v. Gugelberg, who today directs the fortunes of Salenegg Castle, initiated the largest restructuring of viticulture since 1906 in the year 2020. In addition to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, new varieties such as Sauvignac and Cabernet Blanc have been introduced. Also, the newly planted vineyards are designed to allow for the greatest possible biodiversity and for the mechanical work to be carried out at a later date by autonomous vehicles. At Salenegg Castle, the oldest vineyard in Europe, focusing on the future has a long tradition.
